I began teaching as a mature age student and my passion for the work I do remains after more than 25 years of teaching. I value creating a fun learning environment that engages children’s minds, bodies and senses. I truly enjoy the wonder of childhood. I have used this same philosophy as I have raised my own two children.
My career has been varied as I have worked in schools in Brisbane in the P-3 grades as a contract, supply teacher. Along the way I discovered a love of the legislation of the early childhood sector. This led me to work with the Education Department (Early Childhood) as an Authorised Officer monitoring services to make sure they met the legal requirements for operating a early childhood service.
I have worked as a kindergarten co-ordinator for The Gowrie monitoring and supporting kindergartens and committees to meet legislative, funding and curriculum requirements around the Education and Care Law Act and Regulations including the National Quality Framework and Standards.
I have successfully worked in my own consulting business supporting early childhood services and recently, I have worked for Education Queensland as a program support officer working with the transitions to school team. I remain passionate about developing links between kindergarten and school to ensure children and families have a great start to school.
My husband Gavan works in I.T. My children are Maddy 21 and Seb, about to turn 14. I have two crazy Dachshunds; Magnus and Domino and a cat Noodles. We love to go camping whenever we can.
